Sports Day Fun!

WOW, what a great we had! All Froglets were sporting their coloured t-shirts and were raring to go. There was balancing, throwing, weaving in and out of cones and running with water buckets. It was great to see everyone joining in and giving all the events a try! Thank you to all the parents and carers that came along, it was great to have so many of you join us. The ice poles at the end were the perfect treat to finish the afternoon off.

What happened to Jack’s beans?

We have been loving exploring the Jack and the Bean stalk story. We have put actions to the story and we are using a story map to help with our retelling (see if they can share the story with you at home!) We have even been busy planting beans and seeds in our garden area. Today we had an EGGciting discovery! 5 golden eggs were at the bottom of our Beanstalk – we don’t know how they got there but we enjoyed thinking of ideas. We decided to see what they were like inside and then we all made scrambled egg with them. We ate our eggs for cafe this morning and imagined we were the giant eating his breakfast in his castle.

Pancake Fun!

What a fantastic pancake day we had in Froglets! We found out why people eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, how to make them following a recipe and then we all got to enjoy smelling and tasting them! Everyone got to join in with the measuring, mixing and chose plain, sugar, orange or lemon toppings. They were delicious! Well done Mrs Small for excellent pancake flipping too! We then read Mr Wolf’s Pancakes – the children loved this story. If you want to watch it with you children take a look here –

❄️ Snow much fun! ❄️

The ice has been a huge part of our learning this term… we found an amazing icicle from the hose which must have been dripping all night! We froze some of our toys inside water overnight and worked hard the next day to help them escape, found some amazing crystals in the balancing equipment and even our sand pit sand was frozen!

🐘🐶🦁🐍 Dear Zoo! 🐍🦁🐶🐘

We have been very busy in Froglets this term, learning all about different zoo animals, making zoos, habitats and enclosures for all sorts of creatures and sharing photos of our own pets. We have all learnt the story and enjoyed creating our own actions to use which remind us of the repeated phrases within the book.

We had a special visitor one morning when Speedy the tortoise came to visit!
We made our own lions to hide in the jungle display!
We used toy animals to make footprints in paint and sorted them by the number of legs they have.
We have been acting our the story by retelling it to our friends using masks and cuddly toys.

Dear Zoo movement & music & ice exploring!

It has been another cold week in Froglets this week and we have loved exploring different shaped ice and creating different colour ice blocks! We even left some water in a tray with some glitter and made a massive ice skating rink for our small world figures! The frost on the tables in the orchard was perfect for making marks on and we loved having a close look at the little crystal spikes on the leaves!

We have also been enjoying reading the Dear Zoo story, moving like the animals from the story and even had a go at learning some songs about the story. The words are attached here if you want to have a go at singing them at home!
