πŸ›πŸ¦‹ Our caterpillars! πŸ›πŸ¦‹

This week our caterpillars have arrived! We have been waiting for them to be delivered in the post and they are finally here! They arrived on Monday and have already grown bigger. The brown stuff at the bottom is squashed up fruit for them to eat to help them grow. Mrs Knight is going to look after them over the holidays and hopefully they will soon turn into chrysalis! 🐞πŸͺ²πŸ¦‹πŸŒπŸ› Who goes to the Ugly Bug Ball? πŸ›πŸŒπŸ¦‹πŸͺ²πŸž

We have created some beautiful displays in Froglets all about our focus question… Who goes to the ugly bug ball? After tasting the 5 fruits from The Very Hungry Caterpillar we thought of different words to describe them and also explored other fruits we may have tasted at home! We also collaged, painted and drew some mini beasts for our garden display! They look beautiful ☺️

Our slimy visitors πŸŒ

This morning we had some visitors in Froglets. After the rain the slugs and snails came out so we gathered some up to take a closer look! The children collected leaves and grass to make them a home. We talked about their similarities and differences, what they eat, why they have shells and where they like to live! After we had carefully looked after them we popped them back in the garden so they can find their friends again.

Welcome to Froglets!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

This term we are learning all about mini-beasts – starting by focusing on the story β€˜The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’ We have read the book, drawn and painted mini-beasts, sorted healthy and unhealthy foods and talked about the life cycle of caterpillars. Today we explored the 5 fruits the caterpillar ate using our senses to look at, touch, taste and smell apples, pears, plums, oranges and strawberries. We thought about different words to describe the fruits and loved eating them!
