We have been busy carefully creating our self-portraits this term…. Here is a sneak peek of the display just inside the Pond classroom – please do pop in to see all of our beautiful creations!

We end each day by singing our very own song… I am sure all of the Froglets now know the words…
“We are Froglets, we are Froglets, we learn and play, we learn and play… we are very happy, we are very happy…. every day, every day!”

We have had a wonderful time in the woods this term… we have made apple bird feeders, created minibeasts with sticks and clay, used the magnifying glasses to find lots of wiggly worms, made delicious mud pies and jumped in muddy puddles with our wellies on! The Froglets have loved exploring the secret garden – thank you Mrs Little! (More photos to come on Tapestry!)

This week we have started welcoming in our new families – it has been a pleasure to play with and get to know all of your children! Next week I will send out a welcome letter with some more information about our learning for this term & some practical reminders – please get signed up on Parent Pay as soon as you receive your code! The Froglets have LOVED visiting our secret garden this week for their Forest School sessions – what fun they have had! Den building, mud-pie making, bug hunting, animal watching, and getting soggy whilst watering everything! Please check out Tapestry for more photos of your child’s session. Thank you for welcoming us Mrs Little… we can’t wait to have more forest school fun in Reception!

We have been planting seeds in Froglets this term – we hope your sunflowers have kept growing at home and haven’t been nibbled by pesky slugs! When they are bigger pop them in a bigger pot in the garden & please send us a photo of how they are growing over the Summer months. I wonder which seed will grow the tallest?

In our Froglets garden we have also been growing some vegetables l; like carrots, lettuce, and some peas too – we love to see how they grow every day and enjoy watering them.

We have also learned about what seeds need to grow & a little song called ‘The Seed Song’ which I have put a link to below…

This week we have started visiting the Reception Classrooms. On Tuesday we went to see Miss Wainwright, Mrs Bramley and Mrs Trendall in Oak class and sang some songs together. Tomorrow we are going to have a story together in Holly classroom – we are very excited about our new classes and new teachers! We are visiting every week, on different days, for the rest of the Summer Term.

Thank you to everyone who came to Sports Day today – Froglets, you were amazing! Our biggest crowd yet with over 120 spectators, cheering everyone on & working as a team to complete each activity! We all enjoyed a well-deserved ice pole to celebrate – great job Froglets – we are all very proud of you 🙂

This week we have been focussing on the life cycle of a butterfly. To help us remember it we learned a song with actions, cut out pictures of the process from egg – caterpillar – cocoon – butterfly and also listened to the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar – although we’re not sure he should be eating lollipops or chocolate cake!

This also helped us with our cutting skills as it can be very tricky to use scissors but we are trying hard!

We have been learning all about minibeasts this term and have even spotted some in our garden. We have been talking about differences between dragonflies and butterflies, counting spots on ladybirds and legs on spiders, choosing our favourite bugs and reading poems from our key text… did you know that woodlice have a pouch under their shells for their babies! Bugs are amazing 🙂

This term we are thinking about MINIBEASTS & the BIG question – Who goes to the Ugly Bug Ball?

Barry the African land Snail has come to visit us from Reception – he is almost as big as Mrs Knight’s hand! We have been learning about what he likes to eat, how he hides, the different parts of his body and why he needs calcium powder in his tank – to keep his shell strong!
