We all went to the Orchard this morning to find the frosty leaves! We made patterns on the tables, found frost-covered leaves, crunched the grass with our feet, looked for sparkles in the sunshine and felt the cold frost with our fingers! We thought about F words like frost, Friday, fish fingers and Froglets!
On Monday we all wore odd socks to celebrate everyone being different & then in the afternoon a Spanish visitor called Patty came in to teach us some Spanish songs.
On Tuesday we remembered those who died in the war by making a poppy wreath and observing the 2-minute silence.
On Wednesday we partied at the disco and on Thursday we had a rest!
Today we have celebrated Children in Need by finding pudsey bears hiding around the Lily Pad classroom, painting spotty bandanas and colouring in pudsey bear sheets!
What busy Froglets we have been 🙂
Just before half term we had the most amazing fun at Forest School! We spent hours bug hunting / making apple bird feeders / playing in the mud kitchen / squeezing apples to make juice / building dens / making shakers from tubes and stones and making lots of muddy memories!

We use Tapestry in school to document some of your child’s learning. It is used in Froglets and Reception as a form of assessment and we share these photos with you at home so you can see a little snapshot of what they have been doing. We would love to see you add images from home of their learning too, you can also like & comment on photos if you would like to. This term our BIG question has been… ‘What makes me special? We have had a close look at our faces to accurately paint our portraits, (which can be seen in the entrance to the Pond classroom) and have been talking about who lives in our houses to discover that all families are completely unique! This week we will be talking about our pets…. I wonder if anyone has an unusual pet at home?

We had the most amazing afternoon today! Train rides in the sunshine – delicious ice creams from the van – making boats to sink and float and soooo much train track! Thank you all for joining us and making our celebration afternoon so wonderful 🙂 Also, a BIG thank you to Julie from ‘What’s the scoop?’ and the gentlemen from the Exeter Miniature Railway in Exeter for coming to join us!
Mrs Watson is joining our Froglets team and will be teaching every Thursday! She has been in class today getting to know your amazing children, playing games and reading stories… welcome to the Froglets team! She has a little boy called Merryn, her favourite animal is a whale and she enjoys cycling to work – even when it is raining!
This week, we are finishing off our minibeasts topic with some real magic from nature! We received a delivery of caterpillars and now all 5 have turned into chrysalises… we are watching them day by day to see if the butterflies will emerge! We have also been focusing on the life cycle of a butterfly and cutting our own pictures out to practice our scissors skills… watch this space for more butterfly news 🙂
We have kicked off our learning with some brilliant activities in Froglets and have found soooo many wonderful bugs in our garden! On the 20th May we are celebrating BEES so bring out the stripes and celebrate these wonderful creatures with us 🙂
