As part of our LCC (Learning Challenge Curriculum) topic this half term we have been painting ourselves! We used mirrors to check which colours we needed to use and carefully used brushes to paint each feature. We have also been using buttons, ribbons and googly eyes to make faces and using play dough too! We have loved sharing our baby photos with the class and thinking of how much we have changed! We think all the Froglets are special and have loved sharing this weeks learning together. Our focus text is, ‘I like me!’ Which you can find on YouTube if you would like to watch it at home.

This afternoon we had a visitor to our snack time as this amazing caterpillar came to join us! We carefully scooped him up and used the internet to find out what type of caterpillar he was. We learnt it was a Pale Thussock Caterpillar who will turn into a moth. I wonder if you can find a picture of the moth it becomes with some help from a grown up at home?

This week we have welcome backed lots of froglets and enjoyed meeting some new children too! We hope they have all had lots of fun playing, learning and making some new friends!

We have lots of lovely staff to look after us here. This week I shall introduce our fabulous TA’s (Teaching Assistants.) Mrs Small and Mrs Warren work in Froglets every day. Mrs Whitcher works with us on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

This half term we are focusing on vehicles and the book, ‘Choo choo clickety-clack!’ Which you can find on YouTube if you haven’t got a copy at home. Our big question is ‘How do I get about?’ This has helped us to think about different ways to travel and how we go on a journey. This week we have been on a bus ride to the moon, a virtual train ride to the mountains, have sailed boats in the river, and excavated rocks in the quarry!

Yesterday we released our butterflies and off they flew. We all had a close look at their beautiful wings before they finally flew away as we waved goodbye! We talked about where they might go… maybe to find flowers in our gardens… maybe to lay their eggs so they can have some caterpillar babies or maybe they are off on holiday! Keep your eyes open for our butterflies next time you are out and about!

Today our butterflies have started emerging – one this morning, one this afternoon and the other 2 look ready to hatch anytime now! We have been observing them carefully today as their wings dry out before we release them later this week. “I love their colours on their wings!” “Their wings are so pretty!”

Lotta, our new therapy dog, came to visit today! She enjoyed being stroked and having her tummy tickled by the children! We will make sure she comes to say hello to all the Froglet children across the next few weeks 🙂

Our amazing caterpillars have grown so much over half term and have now turned into chrysalises ready to become butterflies in a few days time! I wonder what colour their wings will be? Can you see the beautiful gold streak on them?

This week Barry from Holly class has come to visit. He is an African Land Snail and is as big as Mrs Knights hand! We have enjoyed watching his slime around during our circle times and watched a great CBeebies clip to learn more about these animals.

This week our caterpillars have arrived! We have been waiting for them to be delivered in the post and they are finally here! They arrived on Monday and have already grown bigger. The brown stuff at the bottom is squashed up fruit for them to eat to help them grow. Mrs Knight is going to look after them over the holidays and hopefully they will soon turn into chrysalis!
