What would you find on a farm?

This term we have been busy learning all about different animals. We have focussed on the story, ‘Oh Dear!’ where Buster tries to find the eggs on the farm by looking for them in all of the animals’ houses. Check it out on YouTube (link below) as I am sure lots of the Froglets can retell it to you independently!

We hope you like our display board. Start in the top left corner and follow the red arrows around the board to retell the story…

Our learning has included sorting animals into 2 groups… those who live on a farm and those who live in the zoo…

… and we created our own story map to retell the story using pictures.

We used counters to decide if more people liked cows or pigs and talked about why we liked these animals.

We have loved learning all about animals and playing with lots of different farm-inspired activities!

Happy New Year – 2024!

A BIG welcome back to all our current families – Happy New Year and welcome to 2024! We are all very excited to welcome lots of new families who are joining our Froglet family – Keep an eye on our blog page for lots of exciting news about everything we get up to at Froglets 🙂

Christmas Fun!

We have been having so much Christmas fun in Froglets… with Christmas tree decorating, dressing up as angels and Santa, making hats and wreaths, snowmen building, and posting letters to Father Christmas – it has been a busy few weeks!

We have also focussed our learning on the story of Jesus’ birth. We have talked about all of the key characters: Mary, Joseph, Jesus, the shepherds, angels, wise men, and of course, the donkey! We watched our friends in Reception and in Year 2 perform the Nativity and have really enjoyed retelling the story together.

So many colours!

This term we have focused our learning on a lovely story called, ‘WOW! Said the owl’ by Tim Hopgood. The story is about a little owl who stays awake in the daytime and finds beautiful colours in the world so we have also been finding, matching and exploring lots of colours at Froglets. We even spotted some rainbows 🙂

Brush Buses!

This week we have started brushing our teeth at school. We use brush buses to organise the brushes and to make sure everyone has their own. Each child has an allocated brush on a bus (red, green, yellow or blue) and after brushing their brush is returned to the right hole, ready for the next day.

We watch this video while we brush which reminds us what to do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjnAv-6LsWA It might help those reluctant brushers at home too!

The children have started so well and enjoy brushing their teeth at school – Well done Froglets 🙂

Wow!

We have been focusing on fireworks this week… lots of us enjoyed seeing them over the weekend so we created our own fireworks pictures using glitter, paint, chalk and sparkles! We watched fireworks displays on the computer and talked about what we could see and hear… Wow – aren’t they beautiful!

Our wonderful portraits!

How amazing are our portraits! We all carefully looked at our faces in mirrors and painted ourselves 🙂 We looked closely to see what colours we needed and talked about what we like about ourselves – we hope you like them! We use our ‘Words we have caught’ display to focus on key vocabulary from our book and other words we have explored this term when thinking about our families and friends.

Welcome Mr Arrowsmith!

Some of you may have spotted an extra Froglets member of staff – Mr Arrowsmith. He works across the whole school and can often be found in Year 5, on a Monday he comes to join us in Froglets – Welcome to the team!

We would also like to introduce Bea! She is our therapy dog and works across the school, including coming to Froglets for regular cuddles! Hello Bea 🙂
